Lifelogging is all about recording and archiving all the information in one’s life and this includes simple things like daily text messages and emails to important events like a marriage or birth of a child.  It also encompasses all types of date collection whether it be audio, media or simply biological data.  The information is usually recorded for the person’s own benefit and he can choose to what extent he wants to share the recorded information with others. 

The current forms of lifelogging are somewhat radical right now whereby a person can record his every move and every interaction-sort of a radical self surveillance.  However in the future it is believed that lifelogging will be something cheaper and more common.  However no one knows of the social, political, ethical, legal and cultural implications and consequences of lifelogging yet.

Though some researchers and other people have already tried their hands at lifelogging, it is expected that with time it will become more prevalent.  However the biggest concern about lifelogging is the ability to have access to these archives after decades.  With the advent of new technology, data is being saved in new and improved formats every time and researchers fear that previous data may not be easily accessible if the formats have changed.

Lifelogging becoming more Mainstream

Lifelogging is getting more common nowadays although it still remains costly, time consuming and of generally poor quality.  For most people lifelogging is a daunting job but as technology progresses and new methods of recording and archiving are commercialized, lifelogging is quickly moving from a science fiction fantasy to a real life experience.  Within ten years it is expected that lifelogging will be cheaper and accessible to people willing to record every moment of their lives.
